For founders and executive teams preparing to scale, use this as a
quick checklist:

Scarlet Kites Strategy for growth and engagement

If you hesitate on more than two questions, alignment, not ambition, is your problem.

1. Strategic Intent

  • Can every leader clearly explain who we are building for first and who we are not building for yet?

  • Is there agreement on the specific problem we are solving for that customer?

2. Decision-Making

  • Do we have a shared agreement on how decisions are made when opinions differ?

  • When data contradicts instinct, do we rely on evidence or authority?

3. Customer & Market Insight

  • Are customer insights actively shaping product, pricing, and go-to-market choices, or are they only confirming decisions after they are made?

  • Do we regularly review customer feedback together, not in isolated groups?

4. Roles & Accountability

  • Is it clear who is responsible for strategy, who is responsible for execution, and where collaboration is needed?

  • Are decision rights written down, or are they assumed?

5. Momentum & Focus

  • Do initiatives progress between meetings, or do we have the same discussions repeatedly?

  • Are we prioritising based on value and the cost of delay, or on urgency and emotion?

What This Diagnostic Often Reveals
When alignment is strong, organisations move faster with fewer initiatives.

When it isn’t:
• Decision bottlenecks increase
• Data is selectively used or ignored
• Customer experience becomes inconsistent
• Energy goes into managing conflict instead of creating value

This is not a leadership failure. It’s an alignment issue.
